Salisbury Cathedral Restores Cherished Stained-Glass Work by Burne-Jones and Morris

The ambitious two-year undertaking to refurbish a significant stained-glass window at Salisbury Cathedral, a creation by the renowned artists Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris, has been declared a resounding success. The Dean of the cathedral expressed optimism that the restored ‘Angels’ window will significantly uplift spirits and reignite hope.

Sam Kelly, the lead glazier overseeing the project, acknowledged the immense responsibility involved. He confessed to experiencing sleepless nights due to the critical nature of the work, stating, “It would be wrong to say I didn’t lie awake sometimes. You are working on something that is very precious and if it fell on the floor, it would be very bad.” The project’s completion marks a triumphant moment in preserving this invaluable artistic treasure.
