Après avoir d'abord ralenti puis bloqué WhatsApp, la plateforme de messagerie Telegram, pourtant largement utilisée en Russie et longtemps intouchée en raison de sa popularité auprès des responsables gouvernementaux, a récemment été la cible de nouvelles restrictions.
Désormais, les outils qui permettent de contourner ces blocages, les réseaux privés virtuels (VPN), sont visés à grande échelle, marquant une nouvelle étape dans cette campagne de contrôle de l'information.
