The highly anticipated drama Elsinore has been selected to kick off this year's London Film Festival (LFF). The film, which features Andrew Scott in the lead role of actor Ian Charleson, will see its European premiere at the Southbank Centre, a location notably close to the National Theatre, where many of the film's scenes are set.

Directed by Simon Stone and penned by Stephen Beresford, who previously collaborated with Scott on Pride over a decade ago, Elsinore delves into the final months of the celebrated actor's life. Charleson famously reprised the role of Hamlet at the age of 40 while grappling with a terminal illness.

LFF director expressed enthusiasm for the film, stating, "Few films will leave a lasting imprint on audiences this year quite like Elsinore," highlighting its potential impact.
