Action legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, at 78 years old, has officially announced his much-anticipated return to the iconic role of Conan the Barbarian. This upcoming film, titled "King Conan," will mark the third installment in the franchise, arriving more than four decades after the original 1982 movie that cemented his status as a global movie star. Schwarzenegger shared the exciting news at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend, promising "all kinds of madness" for fans.
The original "Conan the Barbarian," released in 1982, was an adaptation of Robert E. Howard's popular pulp novels. It saw Schwarzenegger, then a formidable bodybuilder, portray the fierce, sword-wielding hero on a quest for vengeance against the nefarious cult leader Thulsa Doom, played by James Earl Jones.
Since his return to acting after serving as the Governor of California, Schwarzenegger's film appearances have become more selective. The announcement included the exciting detail that Christopher McQuarrie, acclaimed for his work on the "Mission: Impossible" series, is slated to direct "King Conan," promising a fresh vision for the barbarian's saga.
