For Christopher Anderson, discovering his name within the leaked Epstein files was not a significant surprise. In 2015, *New York* magazine assigned him to photograph the American financier for a profile piece intended to be written by journalist Michael Wolff. Anderson admits, "I didn't know who Jeffrey Epstein was at all." He often avoided extensive research on his subjects, approaching this assignment unaware of Epstein's history as a convicted child sex offender. Epstein had been found guilty in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor and had served 13 months in a Palm Beach County jail in Florida. Anderson simply understood, "What I knew was that this guy is a rich and powerful man connected to rich and powerful men."
