The genesis of the album traces back to December 30, 2023, following a night marked by intense anxiety at a Bushwick rave. Overwhelmed, Eisenberg returned home, experiencing a powerful physical reaction, then embarked on a day-long, aimless walk through Brooklyn. "I couldn't stop moving my legs," Eisenberg recalls from their home, explaining a compelling need to "reauthor myself."
During this intense, almost feverish journey, Eisenberg encountered an old friend who astutely observed, "You seem like you're having a kind of exorcism." The friend then suggested, "Maybe just play some guitar?" This poignant encounter acted as a catalyst. Eisenberg immediately returned home, picked up their guitar, and began channeling this raw experience into the music that would form their sublime new album.
Drawing parallels to Cat Power's rapid creation of 'Moon Pix,' Eisenberg shared that many of these tracks emerged in a similar "dream state" over three to four months, following what they describe as a "strange, mystical moment." The album stands as a testament to navigating heartbreak, embracing queer rebirth, and the journey of finding love, ultimately shaping a stunning sonic narrative of profound self-discovery.
