UK Painting, Once Deemed a Workshop Copy, Confirmed as Authentic Rembrandt by Expert

A significant re-evaluation by a prominent art scholar has led to a remarkable discovery concerning a portrait held in a private UK collection. This painting, long disregarded as merely a workshop replica of an almost identical work by Rembrandt, has now been confidently attributed to the 17th-century Dutch master himself.

Titled 'Old Man with a Gold Chain,' both this newly authenticated piece and its undisputed counterpart were created in the early 1630s. Each striking canvas presents a near-lifesize portrayal of an elderly gentleman adorned with a distinctive gold chain and an elegant plumed hat.

Adding to its significance, the UK-owned version was recently brought together in Chicago with the established Rembrandt painting, allowing for direct comparison and further solidifying the expert's findings.
